“Heritage and Creativity” art exhibition coincides with “Sharjah Heritage Days” and a book with same title, which documents the Emirati heritage and its manifestations in artistic works. The book sheds light on a large group of Emirati artists from different generations whose heritage-inspired works present a special and contemporary artistic vision. Most of the artworks in this book are inspired by the details and elements of the Emirati heritage and cultural repository, added the Emirati marine, mountainous, desert, and agricultural environment, in which the works succeed in linking the United Arab Emirates’ past and present with contemporary artistic vocabulary.This book is a distinguished documentary research work by Dr. Noha Farran, It does not only explore the history, heritage, and cultural legacy, but it also searches for their impact and analyses it in light of modern and contemporary visual arts. The researcher also integrates the intellectual and social dimensions of heritage and cultural legacy with statical data and different artistic trends.
The Exhibition is an invitation to the audience to discover the aesthetic and artistic values ​​of the Emirati heritage, cultural legacy, and environment which are showcased in artworks that oscillate between different directions and artistic styles.
The vision and mission of the Emirates Fine Arts Society contribute to establishing a cultural scene, encouraging and nurturing creativity, promoting heritage and rooting identity, and refining the visual taste. En route to achieve these goals, the association capitalizes on all the available capacities and conducts various types of activities such as exhibitions, lectures, seminars, and educational publications.

Dr. Abdulaziz Almusallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, inaugurated the exhibition: “Heritage and Creativity”, at the Emirates Fine Arts Society, (March 12, 2023), which coincided as part of the 20th session of Sharjah Heritage Days, in the presence of Salem Al Junaibi, Chairman of the EFAS, and the co-curator of the exhibition along with Dr. Noha Farran, and in the presence of Fatima Said Al Othman, Director of the Heritage Authority in Riyadh / Saudi Arabia, and group of Emirati Artist from different generations: Mohammad Al Qassab, Fatma Lootah, Dr. Mohammad Youssef, Ahmad Al Ansari, Salma Al Marri, Dr. Karima Al Shomeli, Khalid Al Banna, Ali Al Abdan…

Salem Al Juneibi is an Emirati visual artist, writer and curator based in Sharjah. He served as the President of the Emirates Fine Art Society for five years, from May 2018 to May 2023. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in overseeing various exhibitions, art events, and art publications. Additionally, he has served on numerous jury committees.
